Lara Croft, heroine extraordinaire of the famous Tomb Raider series really needs no introduction, and neither does games development giant Microgaming. Combine the two and what you get is a 15-year legacy and true entertainment like you’ve never experienced it before.
Which is why when the news broke that the software developer would be creating a brand-new Lara Croft slot in celebration of 15 years of collaboration with brand-proprietor Square Enix, we knew that something very exceptional was on the way.
This will be Croft’s third appearance in a slot game and we can hardly contain the excitement any longer!
The first Lara Croft-themed slot appeared back in 2004 when the original Tomb Raider slot was released. Then, a few years later, a sequel was released; Tomb Raider: Secret of the Sword. 2019 will see a third instalment being launched at this year’s ICE Totally Gaming expo.
The team of developers working on the new slot are from Triple Edge Studios, an independent studio developing games exclusively for Microgaming. This will not be Triple Edge’s first shot at applying their expertise to branded slots. This is, after all, the very same studio that brought us Playboy Gold and Halloween; both games acclaimed in their own right.
Apart from branded slots, Triple Edge Studios has also released other unique and original titles such as Wicked Tales: Dark Red, Diamond Empire, and Action Ops: Snow and Sable.
The Tomb Raider series of games has undergone quite a few revamps over the years. The original game was played on 5 reels and 15 paylines; as simple as what it gets. When the sequel was released, the most notable upgrade was that the game now had 30 paylines and many more ways to win than what the original game offered.
Not too much information has been released about the latest addition to the range, but if Microgaming has had anything to do with a game, one can always be sure of a show of quality gaming that includes visual and thematic pleasure and the opportunity to score some really big wins.
